Denis Lavoie has extensive legal and leadership experience, currently serving as General Counsel and Vice-President of Major Projects at VIA Rail Canada since January 2005. Lavoie has held various senior roles within the organization, including Director of Strategic Major Projects related to new train fleets and high-frequency trains, and has provided legal counsel for commercial and transactional matters. Prior to joining VIA Rail, Lavoie practiced as a lawyer and intern at McCarthy Tétrault and Flavio Diaz Miron Abogados. Educational qualifications include a Business Leadership Program for In-House Counsel from the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management and degrees in Law from Université de Montréal and the École du Barreau.
