Mike Barfield

Mike Barfield is a seasoned professional in systems engineering with extensive experience spanning over two decades. Currently serving as Senior Manager of System Engineering at VIAVI Solutions since October 2025, Mike previously held various positions at Spirent Communications from March 2014 to October 2025, including Manager of Systems Engineering and Sr. Systems Engineer. Prior experience includes roles as Lead PQ Engineer at ADTRAN, where responsibilities involved advising on automated testing strategies, and as MTS2 Validation Engineer at Tellabs, leading software validation for cable telephony projects. Mike's career began in the US Army as a Corporal, serving as a Multichannel Communication Operator during Operation Desert Storm and Operation Restore Hope in Somalia. Mike holds a Bachelor of Science in Electrical/Electronics Engineering from DeVry Institute of Technology.
