Jonas Demeulemeester

Jonas Demeulemeester is a distinguished researcher specializing in cancer evolution and HIV-1 biology. Currently serving as a Group Leader at VIB since April 2022, Jonas leads projects focused on single-molecule sequencing, multi-omics, and tumour biology. At The Francis Crick Institute since August 2015, Jonas has conducted large-scale data analysis and developed methods for differentiating cancer cell and normal cell transcriptomes. Previous research as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at KU Leuven involved HIV-1 chromatin interactions and transcriptional dynamics. Jonas holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Sciences and multiple degrees in Bioinformatics and Biochemistry from KU Leuven, reflecting a strong academic foundation in the life sciences.
