Suzanne Bijl

Manager R&d Operations at Vico Therapeutics

Suzanne Bijl has worked in the scientific field since 2006. In 2006, they completed an internship at the Nederlandse Brandwonden Stichting in Beverwijk, where they conducted a research project on cell types and matrices for in vitro cultured skin transplant. In 2008, they completed an internship at the Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) in Leiden, where they researched two transcription factors involved in diabetes type 1. In 2009, they completed their Master assignment at the University of Twente in Enschede, where they worked on the subject of Peroxidase crosslinkable hydrogels for cartilage regeneration. From 2010 to 2019, they worked at BioMarin Nederland B.V., first as a Research Technician and then as a Scientist and Laboratory Facility Manager. In this role, they conducted cell culture, in vitro/in vivo toxicity analysis, protein isolation, protein concentration measurement, (capillary) western-blot, immunofluorescent stainings, (confocal) microscopy, histology, RNA isolation, RT-PCR, (hybridization)ELISA, flow cytometry, and cryosectioning. Since 2019, they have been working as a Scientist Toxicology and Sr. Labmanager at Vico Therapeutics B.V.

Suzanne Bijl obtained their VWO (pre-university education) from Gymnasium Felisenum between 1997 and 2003. Suzanne then pursued their BSc in Biomedical Engineering from University of Twente between 2003 and 2007. Suzanne followed this up with an MSc in Biomedical Engineering from the same university between 2007 and 2009. In 2015, they obtained a Certificate in Effective Scientific Writing in English for Publication in Biomedical Journals from the Language Center Faculty of Humanities Leiden University.
