Ray Walia, FCPA, FCMA

Ray Walia has a diverse work experience in various leadership roles. Ray is currently the CEO of Launch Ventures, a position they have held since 2018. Prior to that, they co-founded and served as a director of PlayWize, a company focused on modernizing the financial management of athletes' careers. Ray was also the CEO of Launch Academy, Vancouver's leading entrepreneurship facility, from 2012 onwards.

In addition to their role at Launch Ventures, Walia is involved in various other organizations. Ray serves on the Cascadia Blockchain Council Steering Committee at WTIA and is a member of the Sub-Committee in Vancouver for the Cascadia Transformational Technology Committee. Ray is also a member of the Vancouver Local Advisory Committee for Venture at the Toronto Stock Exchange.

Walia has contributed their expertise to the technology and entertainment industries. Ray served as the Co-Executive Producer of TractionConf.io and as a visiting professor at Shenzhen Technology University. Ray is also a co-founder and advisor at Victory Square Technologies, a company focused on technology investments.

Prior to their current roles, Walia was the CEO of FireTonic Entertainment Inc., an interactive entertainment company that merges traditional and new media. Ray took up this position in 2009.

Throughout their career, Walia has demonstrated a passion for entrepreneurship, innovation, and technology.

Ray Walia, FCPA, FCMA completed their education in a chronological manner. In 1996, they began their studies at the British Columbia Institute of Technology, where they focused on entrepreneurship, marketing, accounting, and business education. This education period lasted until 2005. Following this, in 2006, Ray pursued further qualifications by attending the Certified Management Accountant program, specializing in management accounting. Their time in this program concluded in 2007. Later, in 2009 and 2010, Ray attended The University of British Columbia, where they aimed to enhance their knowledge in entertainment administration, specifically focusing on film and television.
