Head Of Portfolio Management at Victrex

Matthew Spinks has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Matthew is currently serving as an Innovation Board Member at Lancashire Innovation since November 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Victrex, where they held multiple roles. From October 2019 onwards, Matthew served as the Head of Product Management, overseeing the management of Industrial and Medical Polymers & Compounds and playing a major role in disruptive new product developments. Matthew also served as a Global Product Manager from February 2016 to October 2019, with responsibilities including the reduction of JUVORA(TM) product range and being the product lead for all ALM (Additive Layer Manufacture) developments. Earlier in their career at Victrex, they worked as a Finance Manager from April 2012 to February 2016.

Before Victrex, Matthew worked at Barclays as a Finance Business Partner from April 2007 to April 2012. Notably, they joined The Co-operative Group in January 2006 as a Retail Accountant, managing a small team and handling financial management for a network of around 350 retail branches across the UK. At The Co-operative Group, they achieved several milestones, including the design and delivery of an MI system for margin analysis, implementation of Cognos planning for rolling forecast & budget, and digitization of reporting processes.

Matthew's professional journey started at BAE Systems, where they worked as a Senior Management Accountant from June 2004 to January 2006. Prior to that, they worked at DB Schenker as a Commercial Accountant from November 1999 to June 2004. In this role, they focused on airport locations and identified operational improvements that led to increased freight consolidation and significant margin improvements.

Matthew Spinks completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics and Politics at the University of Essex from 1996 to 1999. Following that, they enrolled in The Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and completed their education there until 2005. In addition to their academic achievements, Matthew obtained certification in The CIM Marketing Programme from the CIM | The Chartered Institute of Marketing in November 2022.
