Kyeong H. Yang

Kyeong H. Yang has extensive work experience in the field of video communications and technologies. Kyeong H. is currently the Director of Video Communications at Vidyo, where they lead an R&D team responsible for providing core video technologies to various video product groups within the company. Kyeong H. focuses on developing algorithms and optimizing the end-to-end service system to deliver the best multimedia quality of experience in the broadband mobile environment.

Prior to their current role, Kyeong held the position of iNetS Fellow at Stevens Institute of Technology. In this role, they worked with the Center for Intelligent Networked Systems (iNetS) on various research areas including networked multimedia, e-learning, and technical management. Kyeong H. also contributed to iNetS' business development efforts.

Before joining Stevens Institute, Kyeong worked at Dialogic as the Chief Video Architect and Director of Video Technologies. Here, they led an R&D team that developed video transcoding technologies for wireless service providers. Kyeong H. was responsible for creating intellectual properties in the video space and focused on algorithm development and quality optimization in emerging multimedia services.

Prior to Dialogic, Kyeong was a Technical Manager at EG Technology, where they delivered solutions for optimizing video quality under resource constraints. Kyeong H. also worked at GEO Interactive Inc. as the VP of Multimedia Applications, where they developed internet video services using a video codec they had developed at Bell Labs. This services platform was later acquired by another company.

Kyeong started their career at Bell Laboratories as a Member of Technical Staff. Kyeong H. focused on algorithm development for video coding standards and became an expert in video coding systems, particularly in wireless multimedia gateways. Kyeong H. played a significant role in the development of video coding standards such as H.263 and H.264.

Kyeong's early work experience includes a research role at the Institute of New Media and Communications, where they conducted research on video coding and digital TV while supervising Ph.D. and M.S. students.

Kyeong H. Yang obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Electronics Engineering from Seoul National University, studying from 1983 to 1995.
