Control System Engineer at Vigilent

Jason Runge began their career in 2021 as a Postdoctoral Research Scientist at CanmetENERGY in Varennes. In this role, they were responsible for researching Intelligent Buildings Operation within the Buildings Group. Jason developed Model Predictive Control (MPC) optimization algorithms in python to reduce customer Green House Gas emissions in district heating systems. Jason also collected, cleaned, and applied utility data for energy analysis, benchmarking, and performance trending on district and boiler energy usages. Additionally, they accelerated predictive modelling team cycle time by automating training, grid searching, and deployment using Python. Jason also worked with clients to understand their needs and limitations. In 2023, Jason Runge moved to Vigilent, where they currently work as a Control System Engineer.

Jason Runge completed their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Building Engineering from Concordia University in 2021. Prior to this, they obtained a Master of Applied Science in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology in 2016. In 2014, they earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Energy Systems Engineering (Honors) from the University of Ontario Institute of Technology's Faculty of Energy Systems and Nuclear Science. In 2010, they obtained an Energy Engineering Technician Diploma from Centennial College.
