Norman Wheatley

Senior Software QA Engineer at Vigilent

Norman Wheatley has over 30 years of work experience. In 1986, they started out as a Software Developer at Bart - Logica, developing emergency ventilation and communication systems for a train control system. In 1994, they moved to TRW as a Senior Software Quality Consultant, managing teams that tested large financial applications. In 1999, they became the Director of Systems Integration at Thinklink Communications, where they created and managed a Systems Integration Group for a 130-person Internet Telephone startup. In 2000, they took on the role of VP Engineering at Veotech, developing engineering standards and procedures. In 2001, they moved to Kivera as a Software Quality Manager, rebuilding the QA Team and automating all Test Suites. In 2004, they joined Niku (acquired by Computer Associates) as the QA Director, managing multiple high-profile QA Projects and improving product quality. In 2008, they completed an MSc in Energy and Sustainable Building Design from IESD at De Montfort University in Leicester, UK. In 2010, they became a Consultant at Green Building Saves, analyzing residential energy efficiency. Since 2012, they have been a Senior Software QA Engineer at Vigilent Corp, testing Predictive Analytics and machine learning mathematical algorithms and automating tests with Unix shell scripting and Python on Ubuntu Linux.

Norman Wheatley obtained a BSc Hons 1 in Physics from The University of Western Australia in 1975-1980. Norman then completed a PhD in Astrophysics at UNSW in 1980-1981 and an I yr of PhD in Astrophysics at UNSW. In 2008-2010, they obtained an MSc in Energy & Sustainable Building Design from De Montfort University. Norman also obtained a LEED AP certification from USGBC in 2009 and a Passiv Haus Consultant certification from the Passive House Academy. Furthermore, they obtained certifications from USGBC and PG&E.
