Val Gryphin is an experienced editor and educator, currently serving as an Editor at Gryphin Literary since January 2018, focusing on developmental editing and manuscript evaluation. As Editor In Chief at Typehouse since September 2013, Val supervises the editorial team, oversees publication selection, and designs each issue. Val also teaches literature and writing at Village Home Education Resource Center and Gryphin Education since 2012, engaging with a diverse range of students and implementing curricula. In addition, Val has been a judge for the Bisexual Book Awards since 2014, actively participating in genre-specific awards evaluations. Val holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Spalding University and a BA in Journalism from Johnson State College.

Village Home Education Resource Center is a vibrant learning community designed especially for homeschool families. We offer community, classes, and more for learners of all ages, by providing academic and social enrichment in a family-friendly environment. The vision of Village Home is to be a community model for family-centered, home-based education that inspires and supports self-directed, lifelong learning.
