Steven Barger, BS, FO, NRP, currently serves as Public Safety Lieutenant and previously held the position of Public Safety Sergeant at VILLAGE OF BALD HEAD ISLAND since July 2018. Additionally, Steven has been the Chairman of the Brunswick County Board of Education since December 2020, providing vision and direction for the school system while creating policies in accordance with state law. Previously, Steven served as Mayor Pro Tem for the CITY OF BOILING SPRING LAKES from December 2017 to December 2020, where responsibilities included setting policy and overseeing public meetings. Steven's experience also includes roles as Fire Lieutenant at Pender EMS and Fire, Inc., a Firefighter/Paramedic with Horry County Fire Rescue, and a Field Paramedic in Brunswick County, with an early career as an Emergency Medical Technician at American Medical Response. Steven holds a Master of Science in Executive Leadership/Occupational Health and Safety from Columbia Southern University, an Associate of Arts and Sciences in Fire Services Administration from Davidson County Community College, and a Bachelor of Science in Fire and Emergency Services Administration from Fayetteville State University.
