Lisa Sanzenbacher

Sustainability Coordinator at Village of Skokie

Lisa Sanzenbacher currently serves as the Sustainability Coordinator for the Village of Skokie, having previously held the position of Assistant Director for Sustainability Programs at the University of Illinois at Chicago from February 2005 to August 2022. During this tenure, Lisa effectively managed various sustainability initiatives, such as energy efficiency, waste reduction, and ecosystem services. Contributions included leading the development of the Climate Action Implementation Plan, engaging interdisciplinary teams for green infrastructure projects, and overseeing outreach related to UIC's sustainability commitments. Additionally, Lisa participated in sustainable healthcare practices and volunteered in sustainability committees within higher education. Holding a Master’s degree in Environmental Management and Sustainability and a Bachelor's degree in Biological Science, Lisa has also published in neuroscience journals, demonstrating a blend of scientific expertise and a commitment to environmental advocacy.
