Joseph Roussel has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Joseph is currently serving as the Director & Group Lead of Private Sector Engagement at VillageReach, where they lead a team in developing partnerships and strategies to improve healthcare accessibility in Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to joining VillageReach, Joseph worked as a Senior Advisor at the World Bank, focused on improving supply chains for essential medicines in Africa. Joseph also held roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers, HEC Paris, and PRTM Management Consultants, where they gained expertise in operations, strategy, and supply chain management. Joseph began their career as a Management Trainee at ITT Europe and completed a traineeship at the European Commission.

Joseph Roussel's education history includes several degrees and certifications in diverse fields. In 1980, they enrolled at Louisiana State University and completed a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Political Science and French. From 1985 to 1986, Joseph attended the Université libre de Bruxelles, where they obtained a Certificat en Etudes Européennes, with a focus on European Union Studies. Shortly after, they attended The Fletcher School at Tufts University from 1987 to 1989, earning a Master of Arts in Law and Diplomacy (MALD) degree. During this time, their studies centered around International Business, International Economics, and Technology Management.

In 2014, Joseph Roussel pursued a different area of interest and enrolled at the World Tea Academy. Over the course of three years, from 2014 to 2017, they earned two certifications: WTA Certified Tea Specialist in 2015, and WTA Certified Tea Sommelier in 2017. Their studies at the World Tea Academy encompassed various topics, including tea terroirs, basic botany and chemistry, production techniques, tea cupping, and the organoleptic experience.
