Stevens Mélançon has a double bachelor's degree from Laval University in secondary education and public relations as well as in primary education. He also holds a graduate degree in school administration from the University of Sherbrooke.
He worked in the world of education for 34 years, including 15 years as a school principal. He directed the Relaunch school at the Le Gouvernail youth center for three years.
Previously, Stevens Mélançon was provincial badminton champion in 1997 and beneficiary attendant from 1977 to 1984 during his studies.
