Elton Potts has held various roles in the finance and operations fields since 1986. Elton began their career at Owens Corning as a Senior Financial Analyst, Production Supervisor, and Cost Accountant. In 1992, they moved to Anchor Hocking, where they held the position of Vice President, Controller and Finance Manager. In 1997, they joined Levolor as Vice President, Controller. In 1999, they became Vice President, Controller at Rubbermaid Commercial Products. In 2000, they moved to NewellRubbermaid as Vice President, Group Controller, Rubbermaid. In 2002, they joined CHEP USA as Vice President, Controller, and CHEP as Senior Vice President, Asset Management and Operations. In 2007, they became Group President and Chief Operating Officer at Recall. In 2013, they founded Potts Performance Enhancement, LLC, where they provided coaching to high potential executives. In 2015, they became CEO of Vine Vault, a company that provides storage, handling, receipt of shipments, signature lockers, inventory, insurance, procurement, shipping, pick-up and delivery services for their members' wine collections.

Elton Potts received their Masters in Business Administration from Capital University between 1993 and 1996. Elton earned their Bachelors of Science in Financial Management from Clemson University between 1982 and 1986.
