Suzanne Appel

Suzanne Appel is the managing director at Vineyard Theatre and Workshop Center Inc. Suzanne has also previously served as the director of external affairs at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago and the managing director at The Cutting Ball Theater.

Appel is responsible for all revenue generation at Vineyard Theatre, including marketing and development. Suzanne has experience growing operating budgets, analyzing and managing cash flow, securing major institutional funding, increasing number of major gift donors, and creating Board committees.

At Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, Appel was responsible for all revenue generation for the organization dedicated to improving lives through dance. Suzanne increased the number of major gift donors by 400% and secured funding from The Andrew Mellon Foundation, The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation, and Twitter among others.

As managing director at The Cutting Ball Theater, Appel grew the operating budget from $360K to $620K+. Suzanne also created a Board Audience Development committee including non-Board expert volunteers to address branding, audience loyalty, and website redesign process. Additionally, they hired and managed a Board development consultant to build a lasting Board recruitment pipeline and process leading to the recruitment of nine new Board members.

Suzanne Appel's educational career includes an MBA in Non-Profit Management from Yale School of Management, an MFA in Theater Management from Yale School of Drama, and a BA in Theater and American Studies from Wesleyan University.
