Scott Speidel began their professional career in 1998 as a Research Developer with Vanguard Research Inc., where they wrote software in C and IDL to assist in the analysis and image reduction of data generated on NASA's MSXinfrared satellite. In 2000, they joined eBay as a Software Engineer, writing C++ which interfaced with Oracle database. In 2001, they worked as a Graphical Programmer/Researcher at the University of California Santa Cruz, developing a visualization tool that produces 3D graphical views of the variation in predictability of successive access events on a per-file basis. In 2002, they co-founded Full Support Productions, working on every aspect of the start-up Advertising and Design business and managing a team of designers and developers. In 2006, they joined Lyris Technologies as a Software Engineering Manager, Continuous Delivery, and was responsible for architecting the CI/CD plan and rollout strategy. In 2011, they became a Software Engineering Manager at Kaiser Permanente, managing two teams with 11 direct reports. In 2014, they joined AppFolio Inc. as a Software Engineer, doing full stack Ruby/Rails/React feature development for Appfolio Property Management SaaS web application. In 2017, they moved to TrueCar, Inc. as a Senior Manager Software Engineering. Finally, in 2018, they became a Principal Software Engineer at Vinosmith, doing Ruby on Rails Vue.js full stack development.

Scott Speidel obtained their BA in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Cruz in 2001. Scott also attended BHS. In 2015, they obtained the Kanban Coaching Professional Masterclass from Lean Kanban Inc. and in 2009 they obtained the Certified Scrum Master from the Scrum Alliance.
