Antonio Lanzavecchia

Antonio Lanzavecchia, M.D., has served as Senior Vice President and Senior Research Fellow since December 2017. Dr. Lanzavecchia is also Director of the Institute for Research in Biomedicine in Bellinzona, Switzerland, and a professor in the faculty of biomedical sciences at the Università della Svizzera italiana. Since August 2011, Dr. Lanzavecchia has also been the Scientific Founder and CSA of Humabs BioMed SA, a Switzerland-based company that we acquired in August 2017. Dr. Lanzavecchia worked for almost two decades at the Basel Institute for Immunology. He has been a professor at the University of Genova and at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, ETH Zurich. In his various roles, Dr. Lanzavecchia has been recognized for his contributions to the development of the field of human immunology. He is also a member of the European Molecular Biology Organization of the Swiss Academy of Medical Sciences and a Foreign Associate of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences. Dr. Lanzavecchia earned his M.D. from the University of Pavia where he specialized in pediatrics and infectious diseases.
