Tony Sedgwick

Biosciences Advisor at VirdisGroup

Tony is an experienced entrepreneurial executive. He has held various senior leadership positions in R&D, becoming World-Wide Head of Clinical Operations for Roche. His product successes include Invirase and Tamiflu, which have had significant impact both medically and commercially.

Tony has been Chief Executive Officer of four biotechnology companies, with two of them successfully exited. He has also been chairman of a number of European and British Biotechnology companies.

During the last few years, Tony has specialised in ‘trusted’ advisor roles for CEOs and heads of R&D. He has a deep belief that people are the key to the fast-moving technology space: the human, not the machine, will be the unique selling point for business in the future, where innovation and creativity is key. Tony has a suitably named blog site: The Thought Disruptor.

Tony completed his PhD in Experimental Pathology at St Bartholemews Hospital Medical School in London. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists and an honorary Professor at Swansea University Medical School.
