James Hagan

James Hagan is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in aerospace and strategy. Currently serving as the Head of Flight Operations Strategy and Optimisation at Virgin Australia since March 2024, James previously worked as a Strategy Consultant at McKinsey & Company from August 2021 to March 2024. Prior to that, James had a distinguished career at the Royal Australian Air Force from January 2005 to August 2021, where roles included Head of Strategy and Product for Airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Electronic Warfare, as well as Senior Strategy Manager for the P-8A Poseidon acquisition project. James also held positions as Project Manager for Flight Test and Operational Flight Test and Evaluation aircrew, leading complex flight testing across various aircraft types. James holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Engineering in Systems Engineering from UNSW, and is a graduate of the United States Naval Test Pilot School.
