Ryan Chan

Ryan Chan has a diverse work experience in the field of transportation infrastructure. Ryan currently holds the position of Director of Program Management & Controls at Virgin Hyperloop. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing program management and controls for the company.

Prior to their current role, Ryan worked at Metrolinx from 2015 to 2018, where they held the role of Manager, Off-Corridor Infrastructure. During their time at Metrolinx, they managed a team involved in the design and tendering of new train stations for Ontario's public transit system. Ryan also handled the capital budget and fostered relationships with municipal partners and public stakeholders.

Before joining Metrolinx, Ryan worked at Morrison Hershfield from 2006 to 2015 as a Structural Engineer/Project Manager. In this role, they led the structural engineering team in designing regional and municipal transportation infrastructure projects. Ryan was also involved in commercial building retrofits and telecommunication tower build-outs. Ryan received the 2015 Carson Award of Excellence in Innovation for their work on the structural design of a Toronto Zoo exhibit.

Overall, Ryan Chan has extensive experience in program management, infrastructure design, and stakeholder management in the transportation industry.

Ryan Chan received their Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Civil & Structural Engineering from the University of Toronto in 2005. In 2009, they obtained their Licensed Engineer certification from the Professional Engineers of Ontario. In 2015, Ryan obtained the Canadian Rail Operating Rules – Foreman certification from Transport Canada, and in 2016, they obtained the Construction Contract Administrator certification from Construction Specifications of Canada.
