Jay Wright's work experience includes serving as the Chief Executive Officer of Virgin Wines since June 2008, where they successfully grew the business and led it to profitability. Jay also held various roles at Lincoln City FC, including Vice Chairman and Director. Prior to that, they were the Managing Director of Averys of Bristol from June 2008 to March 2013. Jay formed Warehouse Wine Co Ltd in March 2000 and built it up until it was merged into Virgin Wines in September 2009. Before that, they were the Managing Director of World Wines Direct from February 1997 to December 1999. Jay also worked as the Purchasing and Marketing Manager at Tavern Wholesaling from April 1994 to January 1997 and as a Graduate Management Trainee at The Greenalls Group plc from April 1992 to March 1994.

Jay Wright attended The Manchester Metropolitan University from 1988 to 1991, where they obtained a 2:1 degree in Economics and Politics. Prior to their university education, they attended Harrogate Grammar School from 1986 to 1988, focusing on completing 4 A-Levels. Jay completed their O-Levels at King's School, Macclesfield from 1979 to 1986, achieving 7 O-Levels.
