Darnita Trotman

Darnita Trotman, Ed.D., currently serves as the Chief Human Resources Officer for Virginia Beach City Public Schools since August 2016, where prior roles included Director of Employment Services and Human Resources Specialist. Additionally, Darnita Trotman has held the position of Assistant Principal in the same district. In August 2023, Darnita Trotman became an Adjunct Professor at Norfolk State University. Before this, experience included roles as a Human Resources Generalist and Senior Coordinator of School Counseling at Norfolk Public Schools from October 2013 to June 2015, as well as a Professional School Counselor and other educational positions at Virginia Beach City Public Schools from July 2009 to June 2013, and various roles including High School Counselor and Special Education Teacher at Norfolk Public Schools between January 2001 and June 2009. Academic qualifications include a Doctor of Education in Education from Liberty University, a Master's degree in Urban Education with a focus on School Counseling, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Norfolk State University.
