Colby Chamberlin has extensive experience in leadership and emergency service roles, currently serving as a Sergeant Supervisor at the Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service since May 2018, after progressing from the positions of Pt-Supervisor and Ocean Rescue Lifeguard. Additionally, Colby has been a firefighter with the Blacksburg Volunteer Fire Department since September 2022. Experience with Phi Kappa Psi Fraternity includes dual roles as a Fraternity Educator, successfully initiating new members and managing pledging logistics. Colby also acted as a Basketball Referee for the Great Neck Athletic Association, focusing on player education and safety, and held a sales associate position at Coastal Edge Surf-n-Skate Shop. Currently pursuing a Biomedical Engineering degree at Virginia Tech, Colby aims to combine a strong educational background with a commitment to community service.

VBLS is the biggest and oldest beach service in the State of Virginia. We are the largest professional lifeguard staff in Virginia. We protect more lives than any other beach service. A surveillance stand strategy is in place as the foundation of our preventative lifesaving philosophy. VBLS operates 50 stands which are strategically placed and numbered to insure maximum safety benefit. We are a certified United States Lifesaving Association Lifeguard Agency.
