Jessica Cowardin

Jessica Cowardin is an experienced professional in communications and public relations with a diverse background in various governmental and nonprofit organizations. Currently serving as the Assistant Director of Communications at the Virginia Department of Transportation since June 2023, Jessica previously held the role of Public Relations and Media Liaison at the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles from January 2020 to June 2023. Jessica's experience also includes positions such as Senior Library Assistant at Chesterfield County Public Library, Marketing and Public Relations Specialist at the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation, and various roles in public relations and marketing at the Virginia Department of Aviation, Richmond Animal League Inc., and Special Olympics Virginia, Inc. Jessica holds a Bachelor of Science in Mass Communications with a focus on Public Relations and Business from Virginia Commonwealth University and an Associate degree in Liberal Studies from John Tyler Community College.
