Laura Boone's work experience begins in 1986 as an Account Executive at R.R. Donnelley & Sons Company. Laura worked there until 1996. In 2000, they became a Senior Learning Consultant at Perspectives, Inc, and held this role until 2005. From 2003 to 2005, they also worked as an Education Contractor at the United States Army Cadet Command. In 2003, they began working as an Adjunct Faculty at Virginia Commonwealth University and held this position until 2007. From 2005 to 2013, they worked as a Manager of Customer Education at Owens & Minor. In 2013, they joined Gallagher as a Senior Principal and held this role until 2019. Finally, in 2019, they joined the Virginia Economic Development Partnership, first as a Managing Director and currently holds the position of Vice President of Organizational Development.

Laura Boone's education history starts with their high school education at Maconaquah High School, where they obtained their High School Diploma in the College/University Preparatory and Advanced High School/Secondary Diploma Program from 1977 to 1980. Laura then pursued their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Retail Management at Purdue University from 1980 to 1984.

Continuing their education, Laura obtained their Master's degree (M.Ed) in Adult Education & Organization Development from Virginia Commonwealth University from 1998 to 2000. Laura also completed a certification in Supply Chain Management from The Ohio State University in 2009.

In terms of professional certifications, Laura received their ACC (Associate Certified Coach) from the International Coach Federation in 2016. Additionally, they completed an Introduction to Design Thinking program at Virginia Commonwealth University in May 2022.
