Harrison Hayes

Harrison Hayes is the Executive Director at the Virginia Health Workforce Development Authority since September 2022, where responsibilities include enhancing the health professions pipeline, overseeing Area Health Education Centers, and advocating for strategies to improve health workforce diversity and access in underserved areas. Prior to this role, Harrison served as the Director of Workforce Development at VCU Health from August 2019 to August 2022, focusing on addressing staffing challenges within the health system. Additionally, experience includes serving as the Director of Pathways to Health Care Workforce and the Director of the TRIO Educational Opportunity Center at Virginia Commonwealth University from January 2015 to August 2019, alongside previous positions at Peter Paul Development Center and the U.S. Department of State. Harrison holds a Master of Education in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Howard University.
