Grace Lempp

Assistant Public Defender II at Virginia Indigent Defense Commission

Grace Lempp is an experienced legal professional currently serving as Assistant Public Defender II at the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission since August 2020, following roles as Assistant Public Defender I and Fellow. Prior to this position, Grace worked as a Legal Intern for the Clean Slate Project at the Southern Coalition for Social Justice, where responsibilities included drafting legal petitions and representing clients in court. Additional experience includes serving as a Certified Student Attorney at the UNC School of Law Youth Justice Clinic, providing representation in juvenile criminal court and assisting with expunction work. Grace's extensive legal training also includes externships at the Office of the Capital Defender, Alamance County District Attorney's Office, and Chatham County Public Defender's Office, as well as internships with the North Carolina Coalition Against Domestic Violence. Grace holds a Doctor of Law (JD) from the University of North Carolina School of Law and a Bachelor's degree in International/Global Studies and Religious Studies from UNC Chapel Hill.
