Maria Jankowski is an experienced attorney who has worked in various legal positions representing indigent defendants in criminal cases. Maria has served as an Assistant Public Defender in both state and federal courts, including the Richmond Public Defender's Office and the Federal Public Defender's Office in the District of Columbia. Maria also has experience working with the United States Sentencing Commission, where Maria was involved in federal sentence practice and the federal sentencing guidelines. Currently, Maria serves as the Executive Director at the Virginia Indigent Defense Commission. Maria holds a Bachelor of Science in Political Science and Government from East Carolina University and a Doctor of Law from the University of South Carolina.
