Robert J. Moraca, MD, is the Medical Director of Cardiac Surgery at Virginia Mason Franciscan Health, where he also serves as Section Head of Cardiac Surgery and Surgical Director of The Virginia Mason Heart Institute. Prior to this, he worked at PeaceHealth as an Attending Cardiac Surgeon. With a background in surgery, he has held various leadership positions at Allegheny Health Network and has been recognized as an ELSO Center of Excellence. He has also served as the Surgical Director of Thoracic Aortic Program and President of EASTERN CARDIOTHORACIC SURGICAL SOCIETY. Dr. Moraca completed his Cardiothoracic Surgery Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis and General Surgery Residency at Virginia Mason Medical Center. He holds a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from The Citadel.
