David Gray, PhD, serves as the Director of the Center for Leadership and Ethics at Virginia Military Institute since August 2014, focusing on leadership and character development programs for cadets. Previous roles include Director of Theater Strategy and Campaigning at Leidos, Visiting Associate Professor of Military History at The Ohio State University, and President of Valley Forge Military Academy & College. David Gray has extensive military experience, having held positions such as Class of 1969 Chair at the United States Military Academy, Executive Officer to the Chief of Staff of the Army, and Commander of the 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division. An alumnus of the US Army War College, David Gray holds a Master’s and PhD in Military History and National Security Policy from The Ohio State University and a BA in History from Western Illinois University.
