Terrie Suit began their work experience as a State Delegate for the Virginia House of Delegates in 2000. During their time there, they chaired the General Laws standing committee and served on several other committees. In 2008, they transitioned to the role of Government Affairs Director at Williams Mullen, where they assisted clients with legislative and appropriations processes and advised businesses on relocation and expansion opportunities. In 2010, they were appointed as Virginia's first Secretary of Veterans Affairs and Homeland Security by Governor Bob McDonnell. In this role, they worked to make Virginia a more veteran and military friendly state, as well as preparing the state for disasters. Suit then served as the Chief Executive Officer of Virginia REALTORS, the largest trade association in Virginia, starting in 2013. In this role, they advocated for the business interests of real estate professionals and the private property rights of consumers to state policy makers.
Terrie Suit completed their education history with a Bachelor of Political Science degree and a BS in Political Science from Old Dominion University, where they studied from 2003 to 2005. Later, they pursued an MBA at the University of Mary Washington and graduated in 2016.
