Chief Ranger at Virginia State Parks

Sam Jensen has a diverse work experience in the field of park management and law enforcement. From 2005 to 2013, they worked as a Park Ranger LE at Virginia State Parks, where they managed interpretive programs, allocated budgets, and formed partnerships to increase park usage. Additionally, they served as a Resource Manager, maintaining and improving trails. From 2013 to 2015, they worked as a Police Officer at the University of Mary Washington, responding to calls for service and writing reports. Since 2015, they have been working as the Chief Ranger at Virginia State Parks, where they have been involved in personnel management, volunteer coordination, law enforcement, emergency response planning, interpretation, and procurement. Virginia's 41 state parks offer premier outdoor recreation opportunities throughout the Commonwealth including camping, cabin rentals, picnicking, canoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking. During the summer most parks offer swimming and snack bars. Park staff also conduct hundreds of environmental and cultural education programs in the parks for visitors.
