Sharon Morrissey

Vice Chancellor for Academic Services & Research at Virginia's Community Colleges

Sharon Morrissey currently serves as the Vice Chancellor for Academic Services and Research at the Virginia Community College System since June 2014, overseeing policy development, research, academic programs, student services, and instructional technologies. Prior to this, Sharon held the position of Executive Vice President for Programs and Student Services at the North Carolina Community College System from March 2010 to June 2014, focusing on policies to enhance student success. As President of Richmond Community College from February 2008 to March 2010, Sharon was responsible for all aspects of college leadership, reporting to the Board of Trustees. Additionally, during the tenure as Vice President for Instruction at Asheville Buncombe Technical Community College from July 2001 to February 2008, Sharon managed academic program planning, evaluation, and faculty processes. Educational credentials include an Ed.D. in Higher Education Administration from North Carolina State University, an MA.Ed. in English from Western Carolina University, and a BA in Comparative Literature from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
