Manash Chatterjee

Manash Chatterjee has a diverse work experience in the field of plant science and biotechnology. Manash is currently a Co-Founder at Viridian Seeds, a company focused on creating super legumes with novel traits to make agriculture greener. Prior to this, they were the Founder & Director of PlantM, a plant science consultancy company. At PlantM, they designed smart crop varieties for various markets, including food, feed, alternative protein, regenerative agriculture, and industrial crops. Before that, Manash worked as an Adjunct faculty at the National University of Ireland, Galway, where they lectured on Plant Biotechnology. Manash also founded and directed Bench Bio Private Ltd, a biotechnology company. Earlier in their career, they served as a Project Leader at the National Institute of Agricultural Botany and Biogemma UK Ltd, where they managed research and development projects in gene discovery, functional genomics, and bioinformatics. Manash's expertise lies in the development of innovative plant varieties and their contributions have helped advance the field of agricultural biotechnology.

Manash Chatterjee has an extensive education history. Manash first attended the Indian Agricultural Research Institute from 1988 to 1990, where they earned their MSc in Horticulture. Following this, from 1990 to 1991, Chatterjee pursued an MPhil in Plant Breeding and Molecular Biology at the University of Cambridge. Manash then went on to obtain their PhD in Plant Genetics and Molecular Biology from the John Innes Centre (University of East Anglia) between 1992 and 1995. During their PhD, they also conducted research at The Salk Institute for Biological Studies from 1995 to 1997, specializing in Plant Molecular Biology. To complete their education, Chatterjee obtained a BSC Ag & AH degree from G. B. Pant University Of Agriculture & Technology, which they attended from 1985 to 1998, focusing on Agriculture.
