Michael F. Angelo

Angelo joined the VirnetX board of directors in July 2007. He is currently chief security architect at NetIQ Corporation, a provider of comprehensive systems and security management solutions. Prior to joining NetIQ, he was security architect and manager of government engagements within Microsoft Corporation.

Angelo is very active in the security and technology area as the sub-chairman for the Common Infrastructure and Service Delivery (CISD) review as part of the National Institute of Standards and Technology Board of Assessment for the Programs/National Research Council, responsible for fiscal years 2000-2001 and 2001-2002. He has been a technology contributor and participant for the U.S. Commerce Department's Information Systems Technical Advisory Council (ISTAC) since 1999. In addition, he was named a distinguished lecturer in 2004 and 2005 by Sigma XI, the Scientific Research Society.

Angelo currently holds 49 patents, most of them in the areas of security and authentication. He was named the 2003 Inventor of the Year for the city of Houston by the Houston Intellectual Property Lawyers Association.
