Nick Mela

Nick Mela has a diverse work experience. In 2022, they began working as an Assistant Controller for Vise. Prior to that, they were an Accountant for Two Sigma from 2017 to 2021. From 2015 to 2017, they were an Accountant and Junior Accountant for Slice. From 2014 to 2015, they were a Senior Income Tax Preparer for VITA. During their time at VITA, they obtained an IRS VITA Advanced Tax Preparation Certification. Nick was responsible for providing accurate income tax preparation for low income individuals and families, analyzing financial records and receipts to obtain maximum deductions, and researching local, state, and federal tax code and regulation to ensure compliance. At Slice, they were responsible for month end close, including performing major tasks personally and delegating, managing and reviewing the work of a subordinate and subsequent monthly reporting package, short term and long term budgetary planning and cost management through financial models, forecasts, and maintaining a daily cash flow schedule, and foreign entity accounting for 200+ employee European subsidiary, including evaluating translation gains and losses, complete financial statements, budgeting, account reconciliations and variance analysis.

Nick Mela obtained a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the City University of New York-College of Staten Island in 2013, following a Master of Science in Accounting from the same institution in 2016.
