Mihailo Despotovic

Mihailo Despotovic has a long and varied work experience. Mihailo began their career in 1998 as Technical Support Manager at Centar Computers. Mihailo then worked as a Software Development Consultant for various Silicon Valley hi-tech companies from 1998 to 2000. In 2000, they became a Software Development Team Lead at Nokia, where they implemented and deployed Integrated HashCode. From 2001 to 2004, they worked as a Software Developer at Silicon Genetics, where they developed GeneSpring. In 2004, they moved to Agilent Technologies as a Software Design Engineer. From 2007 to 2016, they worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Apple, where they launched the iPhone, iPad, Apple TV, and AppStore. In 2016, they joined Roku Inc. as Senior Software Engineering Manager, where they led and grew the team and was the DRI for onboarding and deduplicating channels. In 2015, they also worked as Principal Software Engineer at Virtana Corp. From 2012 to 2021, they were Co-owner, Advisor to CEO at Kinetronix, a hands-free gaming station that uses a 3D camera to turn 9'x9' (3x3m\u00b2) of floor space into a multi-player walk-in portal into a virtual arena.

Mihailo Despotovic has a Bachelor of Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Belgrade, which they obtained in 1996. Mihailo then went on to obtain a Masters in Artificial Intelligence from the same university, which they completed in 2002. Mihailo was also enrolled in a PhD program in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Belgrade, which they dropped out of in 2006. In addition to their formal education, Mihailo Despotovic has obtained several certifications, including a Certified Architect on Apache Cassandra from O'Reilly Media in 2015, a Certified Developer on Apache Spark from O'Reilly Media in 2015, a Cloudera Certified Developer for Apache Hadoop from Cloudera in 2014, a Sun Certified Java Developer from Sun Microsystems in 2001, and a Sun Certified Java Programmer from Sun Microsystems in 1999.
