Ramani Duraiswami

Co-Founder at VisiSonics

Dr. Ramani Duraiswami is CEO and Co-Founder of VisiSonics, a company devoted to the capture, rendering, and personalization of spatial audio. VisiSonics is a spinout from the University of Maryland, College Park, where he is also Professor and Associate Chair at the Department of Computer Science. Dr. Duraiswami received his B. Tech. at IIT Bombay, and his Ph.D. at Johns Hopkins University. After spending a few years working in the industry, he joined the University of Maryland, where he established the Perceptual Interfaces and Reality Lab. This is where much of the initial research that formed the core of VisiSonics’ IP was conducted. Dr. Duraiswami has broad research interests, including spatial audio, computer vision, machine learning and scientific computing. He has published more than 265 peer-reviewed archival papers, authored a book, and has several issued patents.
