Jovan Ellis has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. They began their career in 2009 at The Emergent Media Center, taking on various roles including Game Writer and Project Lead/Hiring Committee member. They worked at Manny and Phil's Pub as a Bartender from 2010 to 2012. In 2012, Jovan joined Champlain College as a Student Ambassador before transitioning to The Emergent Media Center as a Lead Narrative Designer and later as a Senior Interactive Designer. From 2013 to 2018, Jovan worked at Champlain College as an Assistant Director of Admissions and then as a Senior Assistant Director of Admissions. In 2018, Jovan joined the Free Library of Philadelphia Foundation as a Program & Curriculum Specialist and later became a Content Developer. Currently, Jovan is working as a Digital Content Manager at Visit Philadelphia.

Jovan Ellis has a thorough education background. In 2013, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electronic Game Design from Champlain College. Jovan then went on to pursue a Master of Science (MS) degree in Executive Leadership from Champlain College, completing it in 2017. Following this, in 2018, Jovan Ellis attained a Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree in Emergent Media from Champlain College.

In addition to their academic qualifications, Jovan Ellis has also obtained various certifications. In 2015, they completed the Diversity and Inclusion Strategies (Intercultural U) program from Champlain College. In 2018, Jovan Ellis obtained a certification in Mental Health First Aid from the National Council for Behavioral Health. Most recently, in 2022, they completed a certification in User Experience Design from Linkedin Learning.
