Barry Groom began their work experience in 2007 as an IT Graduate at Centrom, where they were responsible for co-location services and working with ticketing systems. Barry then worked as a Junior Engineer at Silversands, gaining experience in Microsoft skills and supporting senior consultants on public and private sector projects. In 2010, they joined Blue Chip Data Systems as a Project Engineer, where they were involved in project planning and implementing technical solutions using technologies from vendors like Cisco, Fortinet, HPE, Dell, and EMC. Barry then joined Enham as a Senior Engineer/Assistant Service Delivery Manager, overseeing ICT decisions and managing remote sites. In 2012, they joined IBM as a Lead Engineer, specializing in IBM hardware and software stack and designing solutions for public and private sector organizations. Currently, they are working at Vissensa as a Technical Director.
Barry Groom began their education in 1995 at Noadswood School, where they completed their secondary education. Barry then pursued higher education at Solent University from 2004 to 2007, earning a Bachelor of Science degree with First Honours in Business Information Technology.
In addition to their formal education, Barry Groom has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional skills. In 2008, they achieved the Prince2 Practitioner certification from APM GROUP. In 2011, they received the Citrix XenApp 6.0 Administration certification from Citrix. In 2013, they obtained two certifications from Microsoft, namely MCSE- Server 2012 Infrastructure and MSCA - Windows Server 2012. Furthermore, in 2017, they acquired the VMware Certified Professional 6 - Data Center Virtualization certification from VMware, followed by the VMware Certified Professional 6.5 - Data Center Virtualization certification in 2019.
