Jesse Balis-Harris has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. They began their career in 2006 as an intern at Amnesty International. In 2008, they joined Teach for America as a Corps Member Advisor and later became a Program Director. From 2006 to 2008, they also worked as a 2nd Grade Teacher at the School District of Philadelphia. In 2010, Jesse started working at Achievement First, where they held various roles including Founding First Grade Teacher, Academic Dean, Principal, Associate Regional Superintendent, Regional Superintendent, and Chief of Schools - Elementary Schools. Currently, Jesse is the Chief Schools Officer at Vista College Prep, beginning in 2023.
Jesse Balis-Harris completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in International Affairs from The George Washington University from 2002 to 2005. They went on to pursue a Master's degree in Education from Teacher U between 2010 and 2012.
