Senior Software Engineer at Vista Higher Learning

Ryan Culpepper has a diverse work experience spanning various industries. Ryan is currently serving as a Senior Software Engineer at Vista Higher Learning since August 2021. Prior to that, they worked as an Engineering Team Lead at Teaching Strategies, LLC from January 2020 to July 2021. Before that, they were a Software Engineer at ReadyRosie from November 2016 to July 2021.

In addition to their software engineering roles, Ryan also has experience in the education sector. Ryan worked as a Spanish Teacher and LOTE Department Chair at Arlington ISD from July 2015 to June 2016, as a Spanish Teacher and LOTE Department Chair at Crowley ISD from August 2012 to July 2015, and as a Spanish Teacher and Foreign Language Department Chair at Cedar Hill ISD from March 2008 to August 2012. Ryan started their career as a Substitute Teacher at Garland ISD from January 2008 to March 2008.

Furthermore, Ryan has contributed to the technology community through their involvement in Coding Dojo as an Apprentice Bootcamp Leader and at First Hack Dallas as a co-founder and co-organizer. These roles allowed him to provide mentorship, support, and opportunities for newer developers in the form of hackathon events and web development projects for non-profit businesses.

Throughout their career, Ryan has showcased their technical expertise by working with various technologies such as MongoDB, Express, AngularJS, and Node.js. Ryan has also demonstrated their dedication to personal growth by undertaking personal projects, including the development of the Open Conference App (OCAPP) and a website for the South Central Association for Language Learning Technology.

Ryan Culpepper has a diverse education history. In 2003, they enrolled at Texas Tech University where they obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree, studying Spanish and Business. Ryan then pursued a career in education, attending the University of Southern Mississippi from 2011 to 2015, where they earned a Master of Arts in Teaching of Languages (MATL) with a focus on Spanish Language Teacher Education. In 2014, they obtained the Standard - Secondary Spanish (6-12) certification from the Texas State Board for Educator Certification, followed by the Probationary - Secondary Spanish (6-12) certification in 2008. Recently, in 2016, Ryan attended Coding Dojo in Dallas for a full-stack development program, studying Python, MEAN, and Ruby on Rails.
