Fermín Astigarraga Harper has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. Fermín started their career as an Administrative Intern at Expert Trading S.A in 2014. After that, they worked as a Reservoir Engineer at Cepsa from March 2018 to August 2018, where they focused on an unconventional gas development project in Algeria. Fermín then joined PLACO™ in June 2020 as a Geotechnical Engineer, where they conducted a geotechnical study on the stability of mining slopes for an open pit rework of a former underground gypsum quarry. In March 2021, they joined Orano as a Reservoir Engineer, working on an innovative method of reactive transport modeling in fractured reservoirs for the application of ISR technique to unconventional uranium deposits in Canada. Fermín then transitioned to ARMINES in September 2021, where they worked as an R&D Engineer on a project related to Uranium In Situ Recovery (ISR) wells in Kazakhstan, aiming to improve uranium production and minimize environmental impact. Currently, Fermín is an Operations Reservoir Engineer at Vista, starting in October 2022.

Fermín Astigarraga Harper has a strong educational background in engineering and mining. Fermín completed their Master's Degree in Science and Executive Engineering with a focus on Underground Engineering and Management from Mines Paris between 2019 and 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Mining and Petroleum Technologies from Universidad Politécnica de Madrid from 2018 to 2021. Fermín also holds a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) in Mining and Mineral Engineering from the same university, which they earned between 2014 and 2018. Before entering university, Fermín completed their Baccalauréat at Lycée Espagnol Luis Bunuel from 2012 to 2014. Their earlier education includes attending St. Michael's School from 2009 to 2012 and Rockwell College in 2008-2009, although no degrees were specified for these schools.

Additionally, Fermín has obtained additional certifications throughout their education. In 2019, they completed the ATHENS Programme in Sports, Building, and City Aerodynamics at KU Leuven. In 2018, they participated in the XVIII Seminario de introducción a la Exploración y Producción de hidrocarburos at CEPSA.
