Mahmood Safi

Mahmood Safi has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Mahmood started their career in 1998 as an Engineer in Energy Operations at CSW Services, Inc. After a brief role in 1999 as an Operations Coordinator at Commercial Federal Construction Lending, they joined OPPD in 2001 as a Distribution Planning Engineer. At OPPD, they held various positions, including Senior Distribution Planning Engineer/Acting Supervisor and Principal Compliance Engineer. In 2006, Mahmood Safi moved to Omaha Public Power District, where they served as the NERC Compliance Manager. Mahmood was responsible for ensuring compliance with all NERC and SPP/MRO regional Reliability Standards and played a key role in coordination and administration of audits. Mahmood Safi was also actively involved in various committee memberships related to compliance and certification. Mahmood'smost recent role, starting in 2023, is as the Director of NERC CIP Compliance at Vistra Corp.

Mahmood Safi completed their B.S. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln from 1994-1998. Mahmood then pursued an MBA in Business Administration and Management, General from Creighton University from 2005-2007. Additionally, Mahmood Safi holds certifications as a Certified NERC Reliability Coordinator System Operator from the North American Electric Reliability Corporation and as a Professional Engineer (P.E.) from the State of Nebraska.
