Sterling Owens

Sterling Owens has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Sterling is currently working as the Senior Director of Sales Operations at VitalSource since March 2022. Prior to this, they held the position of Senior Director of Sales Operations and Strategy at ModivCare from an unspecified date in 2021 until March 2022.

Before joining ModivCare, Sterling had a long tenure at Sodexo, where they held multiple roles. Sterling served as the Senior Director of Sales Productivity and Large Sales Program Management Office from 2013 to 2020. During this time, they co-led the formation and implementation of a new sales ecosystem for North America and was instrumental in winning the Sales Operations Program of the Year Award. Sterling also led the Strategic Sales PMO, managing complex sales processes.

In Sodexo, Sterling also worked as the Senior Director of Strategy and Planning from 2008 to 2013 and as the Director of Strategy and Planning from 2005 to 2008. Previously, they served as the Director of Internal Audit from 2003 to 2005.

Prior to their tenure at Sodexo, Sterling worked at Thomson Consumer Electronics (formerly RCA) in various positions. Sterling served as the Business Integration Manager from 2002 to 2003, Business Process Consultant/Auditor from 2000 to 2002, and Market Research and Business Planning Manager from 1998 to 2000. Sterling also managed the Latin America sales territory and served as the single-point-of-contact for sales agents in Latin America from 1996 to 1998. Sterling started their career as a Graduate Management Trainee at Thomson Consumer Electronics in 1995.

Sterling's earliest work experience was as a Test Engineer at Nortel Networks from 1990 to 1993.

Sterling Owens holds an MBA degree in General Management and Operations from Duke University - The Fuqua School of Business. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Electronics Technology/Technician from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. In addition to their academic qualifications, Sterling has earned certifications such as Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification from Sodexo and AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner from Amazon Web Services (AWS). Sterling also holds the Salesforce Mountaineer certification.
