Shaun Howell

Shaun Howell has worked in the field of Artificial Intelligence since 2013. Shaun began their career as a PhD Researcher at Cardiff University, researching the value of semantic web and AI technologies in IoT products alongside businesses. In 2017, they joined Vivacity Labs as the Head Of Research. During their time there, they acted as the Reinforcement Learning Research Lead, leading a team applying deep RL to traffic signal optimization. Shaun also served as a Senior Machine Learning Researcher, furthering the company's traffic prediction capabilities and the application of these for several local councils. Additionally, they acted as a Data Scientist, researching traffic prediction using the company's timeseries traffic data. Shaun's work was presented at the 2017 Intelligent Infrastructure Hub competition and won the submitted category.

Shaun Howell obtained their Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from Cardiff University / Prifysgol Caerdydd in 2013, after attending from 2010 to 2013. Shaun also obtained a certification in Cybersecurity and Its Ten Domains, by University System of Georgia from Coursera in February 2016.
