Technical Leader, Embedded Linux And Kernel Engineer at Viveris

Romain Perier has a diverse range of work experience in embedded systems and Linux engineering. Romain began their career as a professional intern at SPIE in 2009. Romain then completed a research internship in high performance computing at Inria in 2010, followed by an end of studies research internship about transactional memories at CNRS in 2011.

Romain joined CNRS as an embedded systems research engineer in 2011, where they worked until 2012. During this time, they also worked as a subcontractor at Open Wide, where they served as an open source and embedded systems engineer. Romain'sresponsibilities included creating devicetrees for running a bsp Linux on a Xilinx-based board, porting u-boot, deploying a real-time Linux kernel, and developing device drivers.

From 2012 to 2016, Romain Perier continued their work as an embedded systems engineer at Open Wide, where they worked on various projects. These included designing and implementing the M2M Agent Mihini for Sierra Wireless, improving existing BSP with Yocto for a lightweight wifi connection manager at an LPG company, and developing a lightweight wifi connection manager in bash.

In 2016, Romain Perier joined Free Electrons as an embedded Linux, Kernel, and Android engineer, where they worked until 2017. Romain then worked as a freelance embedded Linux and Kernel engineer at Collabora from January to October 2017.

Currently, Romain Perier is working at Viveris Technologies as a technical leader and embedded Linux and Kernel engineer. Romain'sroles include setting up a BSP Yocto for a base of IMX6UL card, developing kernel space and userspace architectures, and designing and developing the application part. Romain is also involved in the implementation of a security layer.

Romain Perier began their education in 2006 at Alfred Kastler scientific and technical secondary school, where they pursued a field of study in Electrotechnique and obtained their A levels in 2007. Following this, from 2007 to 2010, they attended Université de Bordeaux and completed their Bachelor's degree in Computer Sciences. Romain furthered their education at the same institution and obtained a Master's degree in systems and networks, high performance computing in 2011.
