Marielena Mata

Marielena Mata has extensive experience in the field of clinical biomarkers and companion diagnostics. Marielena is currently working as the Sr. Director of Clinical Biomarkers at Vividion Therapeutics, Inc. starting from 2023. Prior to this, they worked at Pfizer as the Senior Director and Diagnostic Lead from 2017 to 2023, where they led the development and commercialization efforts of companion diagnostics. From 2014 to 2017, they worked at GSK as the Head of Precision Medicine and Companion Diagnostics, where they played a key role in implementing the precision medicine strategy and leading the CDx team. Before that, they worked at Janssen, Pharmaceutical Companies of Johnson and Johnson, from 2009 to 2014, holding positions such as Principal Scientist and Program Director in the field of biomarker development and implementation. Mata also has experience working at Centocor as a Scientist/Senior Research Scientist and at the University of Pennsylvania as a Postdoctoral Associate.

Marielena Mata has a Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, which they obtained from 1993 to 1999. Prior to that, from 1990 to 1993, they completed their B.A. in Biology at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. In 1989 to 1990, Marielena studied Biology at the Universidad Nacional Experimental Simón Bolívar, although no degree is specified. Additionally, they earned a Program Management certification from Villanova University, although the specific time period is not mentioned.
