Axel Cahiz is a seasoned horticulturist and orchid curator, currently serving at Vizcaya Museum and Gardens since November 2018 while also owning Amazonia Orchids, LLC since November 1992. With a background in the family orchid business established in Venezuela in 1987, Axel transitioned the operations to Homestead, FL in 1993. Axel earned an Associate's degree in Agriculture from Miami Dade College and further pursued studies in Biotech Engineering at Clemson University, where experience as a biotech engineer researcher focused on plant growth development from September 1998 to August 2000. Additional academic pursuits include studies in Liberal Arts and Language Studies at The University of Kansas.
